Blog Assignment #1

Hello world! My name is Lacie Brothers and I am a junior at the University of South Alabama. I am originally from Gulf Breeze, FL. I was born and raised at the beach and I wouldn't have had it any other way. When I graduated high school I was planning on taking one of the three volleyball scholarships that were on the table. But in the process of choosing which school to play for I got cold feet and decided to not play all together. Being that I am a daughter of two teachers, going to school without a scholarship was a hard pill for my parents to swallow. Which is why South Alabama was my next option because they wave out of state tuition for my county in Florida. Coming into a new city, school, and environment with zero friends and no volleyball I decided to rush a sorority. I ended up going Chi O and never regretting it. Now I'm three years down the road into school, blessed with good friends, and finally found a major I can be excited about.

I recently changed my major to elementary education, better late than never! My mind was abruptly changed this summer when I was accepted into an internship at an inner city ministry in Montgomery, Alabama. I lived there all summer serving the kids and their families day in and day out. My group of girls consisted of seven K-2 amazing girls from the Washington Park area. These seven girls changed the picture in my mind of my future after college and since then the memory of that summer feeds the fire to educate the young minds among the underprivileged.

Here's my wordle!
